Go sightseeing at Paternoster and the Cape Columbine Lighthouse

This is situated outside of Paternoster on the west coast of South Africa and it was erected in 1936 on a range of boulders which is called Castle Rock and this lighthouse is still used as a beacon of light to vessels that sail through this rough waters. The highlight of this lighthouse is that you can book for accommodation here and you can then go visit the fisherman village that is nearby.

Hike up Kgaswane Mountain Reserve (North West)

If you are the adventure freak and you long for a scenic hike, this reserve should be on your bucket list. You will enjoy your hike here as you climb the peak and grassy vleis while you will also get to see sable antelope which is breeding herd found in this region. If you are lucky you are going to see the black-eyed jackal, caracal, and leopard on your hike. The best way to explore this stunning mountain reserve is to go on a day hike.

Visit Groendal Nature Reserve (Eastern Cape)

This is the third-largest conservation area in South Africa with vast ravines, streams, and rugged terrain. This is a perfect place to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city and the highlight of the reserve is that you will get to see a diversity of bird species like African Fish Eagle, martial eagle, steppe buzzard, blue crane, secretary bird, and so on. The reserves also house a herd of rare mountain zebra.

Explore Drakensberg Amphitheatre, KZN

This is a towering mountain range and it is unbelievable that it is not a tourist hotspot. You will be mesmerized by the landscape when you stand at the base of this rock. The best way to enjoy this cliff is to go on a hiking adventure to the peak and you will be rewarded by a majestic Tugela Falls which is at the peak.

Visit Langebaan Lagoon, Western Cape

This is just about an hour and a half drive to the north of Cape Town and it is one of the places that you must not miss while in Cape Town. You will fall in love with the stunning white sand beaches, beautiful rock formations, and the best part is that you can go swimming in the shallow end. During the flowering season, it is crowded as people are attracted to the scenic views of the flower. You will enjoy your time at the serene little beaches along the lagoon and it is a great spot for water sports like kayaking.

South Africa has a cold night during June and July and you should try to take with you flannel pajamas and socks for sleeping to keep you warm because many hotels do not have central heat and with poor insulation.

South Africa has wide arrays of safari options that you can choose from and you will need to take malaria tablets before you arrive at some parks like Kruger National Park. You can go in the morning or afternoon safaris and it can be quite cold in open jeep while on safari and you should try to bring along many warm clothes.
